Company History AJ Flags Pty Ltd is the father and son partnership between Alan and Julian Lowe. The business was established in April 1999, to import, distribute, wholesale and retail flags.
Our first major breakthrough was supplying a range of international flags to shops in the Melbourne CBD for sale at the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix, followed by a trade stint at the Australian Giftware and Homeware Association (AGHA) Gift Fair in February 2000.
By the time we participated in the Reed Exhibitions Gift Fair in Sydney in June 2001, we had developed a small network of retailers to sell our products. This was followed up with the Brisbane Gift Fair in July and the Melbourne Gift Fair in August. When the Sydney 2000 Olympics came round, we were operating 18 hours daily to overwhelming success!
The company moved to a new office/warehouse/showroom at Lorraine Street on December 6, 2000. At that point, there was two full-time staff and one part-timer, and a distributor network had been set up in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory while agents had been appointed in Victoria, Southern NSW and also in Queensland.
In December 2000, the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) appointed AJ Flags as a official licensee of the Boxing Kangaroo flag products. Years later, the Boxing Kangaroo range remained a top-selling flag product for us, until January 2009 when we gave back the licence.
Our range of international country flags as well as other flag related products has increased substantially since we started operations and we are proud to say we are one of the largest stockists of Australia and international country flags of various sizes in NSW, if not Australia-wide.
In October 2003, we officially moved into our new premise at Norman Street in Peakhurst.
In 2010 we will be able to distribute the Official licenced "Socceroos" flags, then looking to the near future we may also be able to supply other licenced products.
